Subject: We are interested in a logo design for our company.

James -

I just finished 'surfing' your world wide web site and have to say I'm interested in a custom logo design if you will accept a new client at this time. And possibly a web site design soon to follow if we like the logo. Our company is called 'Rob, Greg, and James Painting' and we need a logo for our new business cards and our web site for the future. We are very different people and love crazy fun times together - can you make a logo that reflects our wacky personalities? Please return email if you have the time to accept us as a client and think you would be interested in our logo design. Let me know if you have any questions about this matter and I will be glad to get back with you.

Thank you very much!

Rob

Yes, we're interested in doing your logo. Will start working on ideas now, probably varying in degrees of "wackiness". Give us a couple days to get back to you with ideas.

James, One thing I forgot to mention is that we are very budget concious right now as we are a new company, however we are interested in having a website created for our company within the next few months. We are interested in the "basic" logo that is featured on your World Wide Web page for $12.50 but we may be able to as high as $25 at this point.

Thank You,

Rob

You're in the HOUSE-painting business? Or some other type of painting?

James, We paint the insides of homes and focus on mainly walls, doors, and cabinets. We generally do not do home exteriors.

Okay, here are some font and color samples. Pick whichever font style you like, tell me the exact wording and line spacing (for example, "Rob, Greg, & James" on one line, "Home Interior Painting" on the second line). If you don't like any of these fonts, tell me which ones are closest to what you do want and I'll look for something else. I can also do the text for your business card, if you want (sample card with picture attached). For color, you can tell me the RGB code (or, since you're a painter, the Pantone Process Color, Pantone Hexachrome, or Pantone Matching System number). Also, since you'll be taking these to a business card printer, tell me if you need the file to be a specific resolution (such as 72 dpi/dots per inch, 600 dpi, etc.).

James, We love the CARD!! Great logo! You really got the feel for our personalities. Greg loved the comic book hero theme, he has a huge collection of comix. The logo is super the way it is, all we need is this information on it.

Hmm, looks like you need to re-send the "information" for the card, and your final font selection. BTW, I was hesitant about that particular logo because it makes the card a 3-color printing process (red, blue, and black ink), and I know you're on a budget. Here's the other "fun" logo, which would only be a 2-color process (black and whichever other color you want).

Many colors!

I'm not sure the font so use your professional judgement. Although we would like to be "cutting-edge" on the "information-superhighway", we need to wait until we get afew more jobs under our belt before we have a world wide web home page address. Anyways it looks like http@www.3painters.com isn't working.

Hello, Rob!
Attached is the file with your business card (logo and text). It's at 600 dpi resolution, so you can print it with a good color printer, using blank business-card stock (available at large office supply stores such as Office Depot or Staples). That's probably the most affordable choice for a new business. The card is the standard size, 3-1/2 by 2 inches.

If you want a website later, you can start preparing now by getting photos (or a video) of the three of you on a job. If you have a company truck/van, perhaps get a shot of the three of you standing in front of it (look friendly!). You would have to land-mail us the photos (or video) so we can scan them into website images; would help if the photos are good-quality so we don't have to re-touch them. If you guys write your own text for the web page (instead of having me write it), it will save time -- we can do your web page for a flat $50 (up to three photos), and then charge $10/month to store the web page at (name removed).COM (your web page address would be something like http://www.(name removed).com/painters ).

By the way, where are you? (Which state?) We're glad you like the logo. Please let us know when you're ready to use our services again!

Hi, Rob!
Glad you like the card -- how did it turn out on your color printer?
Price-wise, you mentioned the $12.50 rate (text and photo supplied by client), but we didn't have a picture from you, so we created the "super-painter" image for you. That would be $25 (text and one custom image), BUT I didn't tell you that in advance, so $12.50 is fine. Just make the check payable to "J. Williams" and think about us whenever you do want a web page.

Oh, and if you could, please land-mail us a sample printed business card for our portfolio.

THANK YOU!! - J. Williams
